Wellness looks different when we begin with the understanding that our bodies and minds are wonderfully made. These are some of the verses helping shape the way we approach whole-person wellness at My BodYoga.

The more we learn about the body, brain, nervous system, rest, movement, nourishment, relationships, and the world around us, the more there is to marvel at.
For us, science and faith don't have to compete. Learning how the body works can deepen our appreciation for how wonderfully we were made.
We can care for our bodies, renew our minds, nourish ourselves well, rest when we are weary, spend time in creation, gather around the table, support one another, and seek wisdom for how we live.
Part of wholehearted wellness is also being thoughtful about where we look for spiritual truth, guidance, wisdom, and power. As my own faith has deepened, these Scriptures have become especially meaningful as I reconsider some of the beliefs and practices I once embraced.
Deuteronomy 18:10β12
Scripture warns against divination, sorcery, interpreting omens, witchcraft, mediums, spiritists, and consulting the dead.

βDo not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists.β
Isaiah 8:19
βShould not a people inquire of their God?β
1 John 4:1
βDo not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.β

New believers openly left behind practices associated with sorcery as they embraced their new faith.
Colossians 2:8
βSee to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy... rather than on Christ.β
James 1:5
βIf any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God.β
Psalm 119:105
βYour word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.β
Proverbs 3:5β6
βTrust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.β
John 14:6
βI am the way and the truth and the life.β
For me, a biblical approach to wellness doesn't mean becoming afraid of the body, nature, movement, music, creativity, or the many things we continue to learn about human health. It means becoming more discerning about what I give spiritual authority to.
I can appreciate nature without looking to creation for spiritual guidance. I can explore the extraordinary workings of the body, brain, and nervous system without believing they reveal a hidden divinity within us. I can value movement, breath, music, therapeutic touch, rest, nourishment, creativity, and meaningful connection without assigning spiritual power to the practices themselves.
And perhaps that's what has surprised me most: a biblical approach hasn't made wellness feel smaller. It has made the human body and mind even more remarkable to me.
The more I learn about how intricately we are made, the more there is to marvel at.
Care for the body. Renew the mind. Appreciate creation. Seek wisdom. Love people well. And keep God at the center.
βI praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.β
